AMG Frameless Glass Balustrades specified and installed at luxurious, modern hotel
When Netherlands-based Oever Zaaijer Architects were appointed to design the Van der Valk Hotel in Utrecht, they turned to AMG Railings with their glass balustrading requirements. A multi-functional complex comprising of hotel rooms, conference facilities, restaurant and leisure facilities as well as a fitness and wellness centre, the Van der Valk commanded an aesthetically pleasing, highly functional glass balustrading solution.
The AMG Frameless Glass System was the balustrading of choice. Offering spectacular glass railings throughout the complex that matched the luxurious, contemporary aesthetics, the AMG railing system also complies and exceeds modern Building Regulations.
Supplied to the UK market exclusively by Balustrade Components UK Ltd, the AMG Frameless Balustrade System is a popular system among Architects, Contractors and Developers. Balustrade Components work closely with building and design professionals to ensure a smooth specification process, and that the glass balustrading is fit for the purpose intended in every project.
AMG Frameless Glass Balustrading
Located near to the Southern entrance of the city of Utrech, the Van der Valk Hotel sits proudly among nearby high-rise buildings. The building is divided into two main areas, the lower two floors contain the leisure and conference facilities. The upper, vertical block then houses the hotel rooms.
The interior of the hotel is finished to an incredibly high standard, with a modern and contemporary décor. The AMG Frameless Glass Railings sit perfectly in the internal areas around the reception and public areas around the leisure and conference facilities.
A total length of 51m of glass balustrading was used around internal balcony areas and staircases with additional handrailing fixed to staircase walls. 15.15.4 laminated tempered glass was specified in a 31.54mm thickness, which offered load bearing capabilities of 3,0kN/m – the heaviest/largest demands available in the Netherlands. This meant the balustrading system offered extremely robust and secure functionalities that far exceeded the relevant Building Regulations.
The interior balustrading features handrails that were powder coated in a fine texture and matt finish, complementing perfectly the luxurious internal décor.
